Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child
To celebrate the very famous chef Julia Child’s upcoming 100th birthday, I am giving away one copy of a book that was just published about her. It is called Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child. The book has a cartoon theme and wacky writing to go along with it. This is a great book for people of all ages. Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child tells the story of Julia Child’s life.
Did you know that the TV station that filmed Julia’s cooking show only took one take for every new episode? It was to save money. They held up things called dummy-signs behind the camera that told Julia what she wasn’t doing right. For example: YOU HAVE FLOUR ON YOUR FACE! A POTHOLDER IS ON FIRE! WIPE YOUR NOSE!
To enter to win a copy of Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child, leave a comment on this post, answering the following question: “ Have you ever seen Julia Child on TV before? If so, what did you think of her? ”
This giveaway is now closed! The randomly selected winner is commenter #57 Elizabeth H. Congratulations! I have emailed the winner, who will have 72 hours to respond. If the winner doesn’t respond, a new winner will be chosen.
The book can also be purchased on Amazon to share with the little cook in your life.
Yeah..have seen her…she is very calm and I find her funny..;)
i have not, just julie and julia
I actually remember her from my high school chemistry class. We were talking about chemical reactions, and we watched a clip of her. She had a plate with various foods on it (one thing being a pile of table salt, I think). She then put it in the oven, and then pulled it out–EVERYTHING was black and burned except for the pile of salt. She presented it in the same way that (I assume) she did any food from her cooking show, all business, but with a nice little gleam in her eye. It was pretty funny.
I saw Julia Child on tv when I was a child – I remember thinking she talked funny and that she was funny, too 🙂
I have seen her many times. I have always thought she was larger than life and super loud. She’s a great chef who had great ideas.
Yes! I used to watch her cooking shows on PBS, first just Julia, teaching us how to cook, and then later with Jacques Pepin. Loved watching the two of them together and hearing the back and forth banter. People were so much more polite back then 😉 I adored het snd her shows. She taught us how to cook, without all the hoopla of reality tv. I wish we had more shows like hers on tv now.

I am proud to say that I have not only watched her show (with my grandma) when I was little but when in college I had the opportunity to help prepare a meal for her.
