Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a rimmed baking pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients until the dry ingredients are just incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.Optional at this point: cover and refrigerate the dough for a minimum of one hour (for less spreading of the cookie dough while baking).
Form GOLF-BALL-SIZED dough portions and place 2-inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 9 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Cool on the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
