  • Preheat the broiler to high.
  • Arrange the tomatoes (skin side up), onion, jalapeño (skin side up) and garlic in an even layer on a large baking sheet.  Broil for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the tomatoes and jalapeños have blistered and blackened pretty thoroughly on top.
  • Combine the canned and broiled veggies in the bowl of a food processor; pulse 5 times to chop. Add the cilantro, lime juice, salt, and cumin; process for 10 seconds. Pulse further until desired consistency is reached.
