Crack Crackers

Crack Crackers are a highly addictive snack. These are cheese crackers that have been tossed in spiced up olive oil and baked.

This recipe is shared from an cookbook called, What Can I Bring? Southern Food for Any Occasion Life Serves Up by Elizabeth Heiskell. I found this cookbook, which is full of delicious recipes, when I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law. It was one of the cookbooks on their kitchen cookbook shelf. Since my favorite pastime is looking for recipes, this recipe for crack crackers caught my eye! Cheez-Its are pretty good snack food on their own, but I love a recipe that jazzes things up, and this recipe does just that.

➡️ Tips and Substitutions:

  • It’s okay to use canola or vegetable oil in place of the olive oil.
  • If you’d rather have a buttery version of this recipe, substitute 1/2 stick of unsalted butter (melted) in place of the oil.
  • Try using an Italian dressing packet instead of Ranch. If you do, use Italian seasoning in place of dried dill.
  • Add some red pepper flakes to make these a bit spicy (or add a few drops of Tabasco sauce to the oil).

✔️ How to store Crack Crackers:

  • Store the baked crackers in large zip baggies or airtight containers. They’ll stay crispy in an airtight container or zip baggie at room temperature for up to 5 days.

❤️ What I Love About This Recipe:

  1. They are a terrific Game Day snack, and they’re fabulous to eat while sipping a cold beer.
  2. I prefer the buttery version to the oil version. They’re even more crack-like!
  3. It’s a simple way to make Cheez-Its taste even better!
